About Me

I began as a Social Worker over 20 years ago with the aim of bridging the gap between mental health and the social structures we all exist in. I believe we are shaped not only by our experiences from early childhood within our family homes, but also by the wider society which plays a part in influencing how we grow and function within the world.  While specialising in working with women dealing with unplanned pregnancy, pregnancy loss, interpersonal trauma, and mental health issues such as depression and anxiety, I aim to bring warmth, humour and a safe space to explore the challenges as well as connecting with what is meaningful in your life. My approach is strengths-based and person centred, meaning that in working together, we will focus on drawing out your unique strengths and abilities to foster positive change and wellbeing.

I use recognised, evidence-based counselling techniques to help you navigate difficult life circumstances, relationships and transitions.  In addition my background in creative arts therapies allows me to offer a space to explore issues using non verbal modes of expression such as sand tray therapy, and mind/body interaction through sensorimotor psychotherapy. Such therapies can be particularly useful when dealing with trauma histories. My stance is one of supportive openness and curiosity, emphasising strengths, aiming to enhance your coping strategies and find ways of making meaning to help you thrive.
